Session Description:

John Norris will present his objective, data-based forward-looking analysis on economic projections and financial trends in the USA and the State of Alabama. He will explore trends unfolding across Alabama that are poised to accelerate growth in key strategic industries.

Approved CreditsThis session will award 1.7 CTP credits, 1.7 FP&A credits, 1.8 CPE credits and 1 Samford PD credit. 

Speaker Biography:

Mr. Norris oversees the wealth management department for Oakworth Capital Bank. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Oakworth Capital, Mr. Norris was chief economist, chairman of the investment strategy commit-tee, and a senior fund manager for Regions Financial Corporation's Morgan Asset Management (MAM) subsidiary. Prior to joining MAM, Mr. Norris served as chief investment officer for The Trust Company of Sterne, Agee & Leach, Inc. He started his professional career in 1991 with Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company in Baltimore, Maryland, as an institutional fixed income portfolio manager. Mr. Norris frequently appears in various national and local media as an expert on the economy and the markets, and is currently a guest columnist to the Montgomery Advertiser's Sunday business section. He was named to the Birmingham Business Journal's (BBJ) "Who's Who in Banking & Finance" for 2004, the BBJ's "Top 40 Under 40" for 2007. He has served on the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce's Council of Economic Advisors, the IPC Foundation's Board of Directors, and on the advisory board for Samford University's Economics and Finance Department. Currently, he is an Elder at Independent Presbyterian Church, and serves on its Finance and Personnel Committees, as well as being on the Board of Directors for The Literacy Council of Central Alabama.
