Dr. Matt Sherrer, Anesthesia Services of Birmingham

Dr. Matt Sherrer, chairman of Anesthesia Services of Birmingham, has taken steps to grow and diversify the physician-owned practice based at Brookwood Medical Center by adding a hospitalist group since taking the leadership role in early 2013.

ASB, which includes 21 anesthesiologists and 84 CRN anesthetists, has grown from managing Brookwood's surgical services to becoming a regional provider in eight facilities, four of which have been added in the last year.

Sherrer took the initiative to expand ASB's services by launching the state's first private-practice, preoperative surgical home model.
